‘West South Central’ is a collaborative project between Islington Library Services, Tintype Gallery and artist Nicole Vinokur which

explores the locations, histories, cultural and social significance of the Carnegie libraries in Islington. The West, South and Central

Libraries in Islington were funded by the Scottish-American steel magnate and philanthropist Andrew Carnegie. Carnegie uniquely

reformed both library philanthropy and library design by encouraging a closer correspondence between the two.
